Llama Rama 10th Anniversary Brought to you by Rocky Mountain Rural Health And Presbyterian/St Lukes Transplant Center
“All is fair in Love and Llama”
July 26, 2008, marks the 10th running of the Llama Rama. This unique event pairs medical professionals with loveable and unpredictable Llamas in a race across rugged mountain terrain. The point is to promote organ and tissue donation to save and enhance lives of critically ill and injured people. Lining up at the starting line are doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers, technologists, all hoping to win the coveted Llama Rama trophy and bragging rights for the coming year. Some are elite athletes-highly competitive and swift of foot. Others are weekend warriors-hoping just to finish with a minimum of blisters. All carry a passion for helping the many people in Colorado awaiting an organ or tissue transplant.
Each team consists of 4 people (often in costume) and a Llama-also known as “the great equalizer.” There is no telling if the Llama will take off like greased lightening or lie down halfway along the race course for a “little siesta.” Racers employ all sorts of techniques to get the Llamas to go-sweet talking, singing, prodding, pulling-even bribes with yummy “Llama-chow.” All is fair in love and Llama!! In the end, a great time is had by one and all.
Come to the Llama Rama booth to learn more about organ and tissue donation. If you wish, you can sign up for the Colorado Donor Registry. A limited number of Llama Rama t-shirts will be available for those who wish to show their support for Transplantation and for the intrepid Llama Rama races.
